Project Title: Iron and steel slag: A review of legislation and regulation within Australia

 

Background

The Australasian Slag Association Inc (the Association) is concerned by the fragmentation of environmental legislation and in particular how each authority handles the treatment of slag materials.

 

Aims

The overall aim of the project is to identify legislation and regulation effecting slag use within Australia and determine their relevance, influence, interaction with other sections of other legislation and their method of administration.  Procure relevant Acts/Regulations and review of web sites to generate electronic copies of documentation.

  • Comprehensive report
  • Overview of current Australian (Commonwealth and State) legislation
  • Provide an overview of this legislation in regard to slag use
  • Identify any legislation barriers to slag use and make recommendations on strategies to overcome
  • dentify any current funding options available for research programs available under respective State environment legislation programs
     

The report is to be issued and used by association members.
