Student Education

Since 2000, the ASA has conducted an education awards program, open to any student undertaking an Honours or Masters research project over the calendar year. The award seeks to commend those students who have produced exceptional research projects addressing ‘an innovative use of slag materials in construction applications’ for their valuable contributions to the industry.

Typically, the Association issues 2 awards per year. However, depending on the quality of papers presented, the ASA is always eager to increase this number for any particular year.

Successful candidates are presented the award at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held in Sydney in March the following year. Information about our previous winners and a summary of their research topics can be read here.

Whilst candidates are free to design their own research topic, the Association’s Technical Committee has provided a list of recommended research topics for students to consider.

The Association encourages all interested students in their Honours or Masters year to apply for consideration for this award. Instructions on how to go about the application process can be obtained here.

For all other general enquiries or further information about the award, please contact the Association.
